Renee Good, Americans rising up, ICE emboldened in their violence, ICE slipping on ice
Americans are rising up following ICE’s murder of Renee Good. But at the same time, ICE is growing more emboldened and violent. We need to keep talking about this story and uplifting both the various acts of defiance and ICE’s continued escalations.
TOP THREE THINGS TO AMPLIFY
1. The murder of Renee Good at the hands of ICE
Last Wednesday, ICE agent Jonathan Ross murdered mother and poet, Renee Good, in broad daylight in front of dozens of witnesses. ICE has been abusing and terrorizing our neighbors for months and, predictably, their hate campaign has now murdered an American mom. We must continue to uplift this story (see Friday’s Dispatch for more details to share). We’re seeing massive shifts in public opinion, with recent polling showing that a majority of Americans disapprove of ICE and believe their tactics are too forceful. Do not stop talking about this. Since Friday, there are two additional important developments to amplify that can keep this story front and center.
The final exchange: Phone footage from Ross’s phone was released on Friday showing their final exchange. Yes, Ross was able to keep his phone running while he fired shots, which is more obvious evidence that he was perfectly safe the entire time. Renee Good’s last words to her murderer were “That’s fine, dude, I’m not mad at you.” After shooting Renee in the face 3 times, Ross muttered, “F*cking b*tch.”
Becca’s statement: Renee Good’s wife, Becca Good, released an incredibly beautiful and moving statement on Friday. It tells us more about what an incredible person ICE took from the world. “Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow… On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns.”
2. Americans are rising up to demand ICE Out for Good as protests, defiance, and disruption sweep the nation
Americans have been activated since last Wednesday’s murder and just this weekend, we collectively showed up at over 1,200 #IceOutforGood protests. Folks in Minneapolis are not backing down, with thousands of people on continuous protests and ICE watch. This is a turning point moment; more people are paying attention in the wake of Renee’s murder and looking for ways to fight back. It is crucial that we amplify the magnitude and breadth of our opposition to the ICE gestapo to normalize defiance and inspire folks to join us. Share all of this and get inspired!!

3. ICE is emboldened and out of control, harassing and terrorizing Americans indiscriminately
One terrifying truth is that ICE has become emboldened since they murdered Renee Good. Since last Wednesday, we have seen them knocking down and raiding homes without a warrant, violently assaulting our neighbors, and terrorizing anyone in their way, regardless of who they are. Public opinion is turning against ICE and continuing to showcase their brutal assaults on our communities is necessary to inspire the anger and motivation to resist.
DoorDasher runs into a customer’s house to hide from ICE. The customer has a baby inside and is terrified and doesn’t know what to do. She yells at ICE, neighbors show up, and eventually ICE leaves.

A small pick-me up that also serves to mock ICE agents. They want to be seen as scary and tough, but they are being foiled by slippery conditions.
